WRITE DOWN YOUR GUIDANCE, AND THUS FIX YOUR FUGITIVE THOUGHT. WHEN GOD SPEAKS TO YOU, STOP EVERYTHING TO LISTEN.
— Ann Smith, Dr. Bob’s wife. Bill Wilson called her, “The mother of A.A.

Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob explored some of the cutting edges of spirituality in their own recoveries from addiction. Not unlike the mystics of all faiths and times, they sought a direct EXPERIENCE of God rather than settling for mere KNOWLEDGE about God. Two Way Prayer was one of the primary tool they used to draw closer to God as well as to one another.  As Bill Wilson later lamented, “… something was lost from A.A. when we stopped emphasizing the morning meditation.”

Once we’ve grown comfortable with the Two Way Prayer practice ourselves, sharing this intimate experience with others becomes a natural next step. Like working the Twelfth Step with newcomers, we come to see the spiritually transforming effect it can have on the lives of others while deepening and strengthening our own practice and level of commitment.

Here are some ways to find support as well as share your Two Way Prayer experience, strength, and hope with others:

Prayer Partners

Finding a Prayer Partner is the simplest way to begin sharing your experience of Two Way Prayer.  Prayer Partners meet by phone or in person to share their writings with one another.

Two Way Prayer Groups

Groups are ideal for members to share their Two Way Prayer writings with one another.  Two Way Prayer groups help model the listening and writing practice for new members.

Workshops and Spiritual Retreats

Two Way Prayer Workshops and Spiritual Retreats are ideal settings for learning and deepening the study of Two Way Prayer.
